Juventus in ‘Advanced Negotiations’ With Barcelona for Arthur

Juventus are said to be in ‘advanced negotiations’ with Barcelona for Arthur, with the Catalan giants open to selling the midfielder. However, the player himself is yet to make a decision.

Arthur has managed just 12 starts in La Liga in 2019/20 and his lack of consistent involvement has seen him linked with a move away from Camp Nou. The likes of Inter and Tottenham have both already expressed an interest in the player, who only moved to Barça in the summer of 2018.

Mundo Deportivo now report that Juventus have joined the race, and are already in ‘advanced negotiations’ for his services. The report adds that Barça are not against letting the 23-year-old depart, while boss Quique Setien is not currently planning to hand him improved terms to stay.

Juventus are said to be ‘immersed’ in the objective of convincing Arthur to make the switch to Turin. However, the report does allude to the fact that the Brazilian is happy in Barcelona and is becoming more integrated.

Mundo Deportivo add that it will be ‘necessary’ to see whether Arthur will be happy to stay at Barça in the knowledge that Setien is open to letting him leave.

The next days and weeks are said to be crucial to a potential deal involving Arthur, and should the midfielder sign off on the move, it is said that it could be concluded and potentially officially announced before the 2019/20 season resumes both in Spain and Italy.

Moreover, it would be ‘difficult’ for La Blaugrana to say no if a reasonable offer came in, considering the financial impact the current coronavirus crisis is having on clubs. Juve boss Maurizio Sarri sees the player as ‘essential’ to developing his squad and the two clubs do have strong relations.

Any deal could potentially involve a Juve man going the other way. Mundo Deportivo list Miralem Pjanic, Rodrigo Bentancur and Federico Bernardeschi as the three players that could make the switch.
