Juventus Open Fresh Contract Negotiations With Paulo Dybala After Strong Start to Season

Juventus have reportedly opened negotiations with Paulo Dybala over a new deal at the Allianz Stadium, with the Italian champions believed to have offered him four-year deal with a net salary of €9m plus bonuses.

The Argentina international was close to leaving the club in the summer, with Manchester United strongly interested until the latter stages of the window and a move to Tottenham falling through on deadline day.

He has since fought his way back into the Juve fold following a disappointing 2018/19 campaign, during which he scored just 10 goals in 42 games in all competitions. But under new boss Maurizio Sarri, Dybala has become one of the Old Lady’s best players again.

According to Sky Sport Italia and La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Football Italia), Juve have now offered a fresh deal to Dybala just four months after trying to sell him on. However, they add that the player’s camp are holding out for €10m net salary, though this issue doesn’t appear to be a major one.

The forward is Juve’s joint top scorer alongside Cristiano Ronaldo, with the pair scoring seven goals apiece so far this season. Dybala has also enjoyed a fruitful partnership with returning compatriot Gonzalo Higuain, who has chipped in with five goals after spending last campaign on loan at Milan and Chelsea.

Juventus have their work cut out in their bid to win a ninth successive Scudetto, as they were overtaken by Antonio Conte’s Inter in the league table at the weekend following a disappointing 2-2 draw at home to Sassuolo.

Despite Sarri’s start being a record-breaking one, picking up more points in his first 18 Serie A and Champions League games at the club than any coach in Juve’s history, they have yet to dazzle this season, and will be looking to Dybala to help their charges domestically and in Europe.
