Juventus vs Parma: How to Watch On TV, Live Stream, Kick Off Time & Team News

Table-topping Juventus return to Serie A action against seventh-placed Parma on Sunday evening at the Allianz Stadium as the Old Lady look to extend their lead over Antonio Conte’s Inter.

Maurizio Sarri’s side remain in first place, despite a slightly rocky start to the season, and will be aiming to record their fourth straight win since a 3-1 Supercoppa Italiana final defeat to Lazio.

Inter’s draw against Atalanta opened the door for Juventus to reclaim top spot, which they did, courtesy of a Cristiano Ronaldo winner from the penalty spot in the 2-1 win against Roma last time out. I Bianconeri can further extend their lead at the top to five points if they beat Parma and results elsewhere go their way.

On the other hand, Parma recorded a 2-0 home victory against Lecce in Serie A but could not follow up their success in the league against AS Roma in the Coppa Italia, succumbing to a 2-0 home defeat in the round of 16.

I Crociati are seventh in the Serie A table having recorded eight wins, four draws and seven defeats from their opening 19 games, which should be viewed as a success. Parma were subjugated to relegation to Serie D following the clubs bankruptcy in 2015, but three back-to-back promotions saw them re-enter Italy’s top division.

Here is 90min’s preview for Sunday’s clash.

Team News

Juventus will remain unable to call upon the services of Giorgio Chiellini, Sami Khedira and Mattia De Sciglio, while Merih Demiral is out for the remainder of the season following his ACL injury. Rodrigo Bentancur is also still suspended having picked up a red card against Lazio in the Supercoppa Italiana defeat.

Aaron Ramsey, Leonardo Bonucci, Juan Cuadrado, Blaise Matuidi and Miralem Pjanic should all return to the fold having featured on the bench in Juventus’ last outing against Udinese.

Parma will be unable to rely on Inter loanee Yann Karamoh as the striker tore his lateral collateral ligaments, although Alberto Grassi should return to the lineup after overcoming a back issue.

Dejan Kulusevski recently agreed a deal to join Juve but remains on loan with Parma for the duration of the 2019/20 season and it is therefore unlikely that he will feature against his parent club, meaning former Arsenal forward Gervinho should return to the fray.

Potential Lineups

Juventus: Szczesny; Cuadrado, Bonucci, De Ligt, Sandro; Matuidi, Pjanic, Rabiot; Ramsey; Dybala, Ronaldo
Parma: Sepe; Darmian, Iacoponi, Alves, Gagliolo; Kucka, Hernani, Grassi; Gervinho, Inglese, Kurtic

Head to Head Record

Sunday’s fixture will be the 46th meeting between Juventus and Parma with the Old Lady tending to dominate proceedings, registering 23 wins compared to Parma’s nine with the remaining 14 games ending in a draw. The aggregate scoreline of previous meetings between the two sides would be 81-47 in favour of I BianconeriCristiano Ronaldo

The last meeting between these two sides ended 1-0 thanks to a Chiellini goal, and Parma have failed to conquer Juventus at the Allianz Stadium in the league since 2011.

That said, Roberto D’Aversa’s side were able to hold Juve to a 3-3 draw in Turin in the 2018/19 season and recent contests between the sides have been a tight affair.

Recent Form

Despite a turbulent season by their impeccable standards, Juventus have still managed to win 15 of their 19 Serie A games this season and can make it four straight wins in all competitions with victory over Parma on Sunday.

However, with Juve’s faltering in the Supercoppa Italiana, Sarri will be hoping his side can make amends and record successive wins over Parma and then AS Roma in the Coppa Italia quarter-final on Wednesday.

Drop points against Parma on Sunday and Juve will open the door for Inter to regain top spot if they manage to overcome Lecce at the Stadio Comunale Via del Mare.

Maurizio Sarri

I Gialloblu, meanwhile, have won three of their last six games in all competitions, including impressive away wins against Sampdoria and Napoli in December.

However, Parma were unable to follow up those victories in their next two games, drawing 1-1 against Brescia and falling to a 5-0 away defeat at the hands of a relentless Atalanta side.

Nevertheless, Parma find themselves in the unusual position of being in with a shout of Europa League qualification as Gli Emiliani currently reside in seventh place, just a single point behind Cagliari.

Here is how both sides have fared in their last five fixtures.

Juventus Parma
Juventus 4-0 Udinese (15/1) Parma 0-2 AS Roma (16/1)
Roma 1-2 Juventus (12/1) Parma 2-0 Lecce (13/1)
Juventus 4-0 Cagliari (6/1) Atalanta 5-0 Parma (6/1)
Juventus 1-3 Lazio (22/12) Parma 1-1 Brescia (22/12)
Sampdoria 1-2 Juventus (18/12) Napoli 1-2 Parma (14/12)

Prediction

Juventus have been a joy to watch at times with the likes of Paulo Dybala in scintillating form, but have struggled to manage games properly and have scraped through by the skin of their teeth at times this season.

Parma’s inability to get the better of Juve at the Allianz Stadium is well documented, but recent meetings have been anything but comfortable for the Old Lady, and the visitors will feel there is no better time to gain all three points over Juventus.

Parma Calcio fans

All in all, Sunday’s fixture should make for an interesting watch for the neutral, and both teams should be able to get on the scoresheet in what should be a tightly contested affair.

Prediction: Juventus 2-1 Parma
