Maurizio Sarri Plays Down Reports of Fractured Relationship With Paulo Dybala

Juventus manager Maurizio Sarri has claimed that everything is ‘normal’ between himself and Paulo Dybala despite a reported bust up between the pair.

Dybala has been a key player for the former Napoli boss since his arrival in Turin from Chelsea this summer.

But the Argentine forward did not react well to Sarri’s decision to substitute him during the Old Lady’s 2-1 victory over Roma.

This sparked rumours of a falling out between the pair, but speaking to press ahead of Juve’s Coppa Italia tie with Udinese, Sarri was quick to play them down.

“I speak to Paulo every day, he’s a very pleasant boy,” Sarri said as quoted by Football Italia. “He only asked me why I brought him off. It seems normal and not something bad. In every line of work, it happens that you argue.”

Sarri has also apparently had fallings out with other star players, including Cristiano Ronaldo, as he struggles to balance enough game time for all of Juve’s supremely talented attackers.

But Sarri was also keen to emphasise how much he admired the former Real Madrid forward.

“The sensation is that our attackers are doing well,” he added. “Ronaldo is in an extraordinary moment. His record shows it.”

The 61 year-old also gave updates on how he plans to use his defence after Turkish centre back Merih Demiral joined Giorgio Chiellini in being ruled out for the rest of the season with an ACL injury.

“I have seen De Ligt has recovered well and Rugani is also an important player,” Sarri said. “In order to play in a back-four, Emre Can would need a long course. In the national team, he would play in a back-three.”

It is expected that the Italian will make changes for the cup tie after he confirmed the likes of Marko Pjaca and Gianluigi Buffon would feature.

“Pjaca is an important player who I hope will have more space. In Naples he was one of our targets and I was angry when he moved to Juventus.

“[Gianluigi] Buffon should play, he’s a great resource for us. Those who played in Rome, was doing light training today.”
